The Shift
In reality, I was desperate for something to happen in my life. I needed something to shake, break, be released and I had an overwhelming feeling that it would happen here, in Tulsa at the Transformation Conference ( will be referred to as v01). I’ve been following Transformation Church ( will be referred to as TC ) for quite a while. Since I’ve been following TC, I’ve seen God move through the church and Michael Todd ( The Pastor ) and when the conference was announced, I knew I needed to be there.
I bought my ticket, booked my plane and hotel and I was off to Tulsa. I would never have thought I would have a reason to visit Tulsa but here I was, full of expectations while not knowing what to expect. One of the main reasons I didn’t know what to expect, was because I was traveling alone. Little did I know, this was going to allow God to position me in places and meet people I probably wouldn’t have met. Even though I was there by myself, I never felt alone.
I arrive at the Spirit Bank Arena and the energy is already through the roof. DJ Standout had everybody rocking. I go through registration and as soon as I finished I was greeted by a server who was excited to ask me questions. After our conversation, I went and stood in line until it was time to go in. As time passed on, I had conversations with a middle-aged couple and met some people from London. Once 7:00 PM hit, it was showtime. All the people who served were ecstatic, giving high fives and cheering as we made it to the arena.
Once I found my first seat I looked around admired the people who assembled here. 4,500 people from all 50 States and 30 Different Countries…truly this is what heaven must look like. A server stops and looks at me and ask was I by myself and I responded yes, she then asked me if I would like to move closer and so I did. I am now in my second seat and then another server comes by and ask me the same question ( I must look like a lonely soul lol) of course I said yes to moving closer. I followed the server and before I knew it we as the front of the arena and she said: “I have a seat for you on the front row”. Well look at God, in my third seat and this is where I meet what I call the A-team. While sitting I felt a tug to ask the people sitting by me if they needed to use my portable charger and so I did and one accepted. Little did I know that this gesture would form a connection (pun intended) for the rest of the conference.
After praise and worship, Pastor Mike came out and delivered the message “Blessing of Basic” 1 Samuel 17. Before we left that night, Mike told us that this will be a conference you’ve never experienced and it will only go higher from here. Everybody looked at each other and was like how because the bar was set so high.
Day 2 of the conference was a game-changer. Leaving the night before we knew a couple of things:
All You Have is All You Need
This will be unique.
The Transformation Team is crazy talented and creative.
We all came in trying to guess what would happen and we all failed. TC has always been about Re-Presenting God to the lost and found and they definitely took that approach with v01. The first person to grace the stage was KevOnStage and he brought the laughs. Once we had tears in our eyes from laughing, worship started and Charles Metcalf spoke:
My Version is in Revision
James 4:10 Luke 2:45-52
God’s process of revision is submission
We must submit our Potential, Plan, Personality, Preference, Power
Submission turns potential from a grave to a garden.
This is when the shift started happening at the conference. After the message, there was a conversation between four people to further dive into submission and covering. The people was Bishop Gary McIntosh, Tim Ross, Michael Todd, and Charles Metcalf. This conversation was pure transparency. They talked about how submitting to God challenged them but allow God to things you would never think of. The dove in how transparency helps them help others. God will allow people to come in your life to help you steward your life. Mike talked about how Tim openness about his struggles with pornography help him open up about his which in turn prepared him to help Charles when that time came.
True apostolic covering is marked by authenticity and transparency. - Tim Ross
It was interesting to hear how Bishop McIntosh submitted and listen to God because the initial plan was for Pastor Mike & Natalie to take over this year and the church would be nowhere near where they are now. So after this insightful conversation, I decided to submit even small plans to God for the rest of the conference. After that decision and the end of the session, it was time for lunch. So here was test 1. I asked God where should eat lunch and I felt tug to go to Costco across the street. I said to myself that Costco is kind of far and I wanted to go to Canes because it was right there. Again I felt slightly stronger in my concise to go to Costco so I went. Costco is where I met the Cali Crew as I call it. I was sitting there eating lunch and a group of three people asked if they could sit with me. We talked and walked back and went our separate ways.
Session 2 of Day 2 started with KevOnStage to wake up us from lunch and then Tobe Nwigwe came and shut it down and then we had another conversation featuring Letitia Wright, Kevin Stitt, Tobe Nwige and his wife Fat and Sadie Robertson. They shared their stories about finding accepting Christ and their stories about submitting to God and how that challenged their-selves.
Now it was time for our breakout session and I chose the creative session well because I’m a creative. I was able to meet the creative staff of TC. The social media manager, worship leader, bandleader, graphic design leader, etc. They gave us two principles to go from and we had a QA Session.
Why do what we do?
You value is who you are and now what you do
There’s more where that came from
God is the source of all inspiration and as long as you submitting, God will give you the inspiration to create and come up with new content.
Creativity is problem-solving
Structure Principles
Creativity should be unified but not uniformed
The house always wins
Remembering why you’re creating especially in a church environment. Understand the vision and the end goal for salvation.
I was blown away as to how fast the team was putting out content at the conference. What I loved that they weren’t putting out content to put out content but you could see the passion, quality, and creativity in every post.
Session 3 of Day 2: While waiting to get in the arena that night, I met two more people that I consider the 2 Live Squad. We had a great conversation about the challenges we faced locally in churches and even what pastors we like listening to and the ones who don’t do it for us. We decided to experience the next session together.
This is when the conference completely shifted. Mind you I already have never cried so much in life till this point but it’s still hard to describe that night. It was the most sovereign move of God I have seen. The original design was worship and a word but it was just worship. 20 mins turned into 2 1/2 hours of just being in the presence of the Holy Spirit. You needed to be there to understand. The mantle was passed to this generation that night. When I arrived at my hotel, I was still vibrating from that service but something unlocked. The last couple of months, I was in a creative funk but my mind was flowing and I couldn’t sleep. I stayed up for hours just writing stuff out and eventually I fell asleep.
Day 3
Session 1 -The above picture happened the first night. Why am I telling you this? Because by the end of the day, everything came full circle. It started when I arrived at the arena that morning. There were already long lines and I started to head to the right side of the building but then I felt a tug to go to the opposite side of the building. Normally I would’ve kept going but maybe this is God telling me he wants me to go to the left side so I submitted to the tug. When I get to the other side, I see the A team in the front of the line. They wave and I go over to talk and I decide to go in with them. When we get to the venue, we ushered to the same seats we sat during the first night in the above picture. The only thing was the girl to my left was not there. These seats fill up fast and the servers are good at filling these seats. I realize nobody has set in the seat to my left and two minutes later she wonders up and asked me was the seat next to me was taken….then we realized we sat together two days ago.
Service starts and it continues from last night…now we’re just in an overflow. Each session went higher and higher just like Mike said the first night. You could feel that God was breaking strongholds and generational curses. Healing and blessings were being passed out. During the movement, Pastor Tim Ross came out and delivered the message:
Please God, Not People
Judges 9: 7-15
Titles tempt people who are not secure in who God called them to be.
Never give up what God made you to produce just to look like you’re doing something.
Have we made idols of what people do instead of who they are?
When you’re attached to a title, you’ll submit to something that will hurt you.
Demons don’t run from titles. Demons know names to run from.
Never choose a title over production and results.
Whatever God told you to do, it looks good on YOU!
Wisdom is shown to be right by its results.
During the break for the last session, I managed to run into all the people that I met. First, I met a friend from the airport that we never could seem to link up at the conference then the 2 Live Squad, The Cali Crew, and I attended the session again with the A-Team. Out of 4,500 people, it’s amazing how God works. I chose the opportunity to connect with them via social media. I believe God made these connections for a reason.
The last session we worship through our issues and praised through everybody breakthroughs. It ended with Pastor Mike speaking very candid with everybody. He let us know that we needed to have a local church that we needed to pay tithes to our local church. Mike gave an insight into how every church is unique and that is a place to use our talents. He gave us the wisdom of submitting and asking God for discernment when finding a local church. He left us with that we are all on the same team and spreading the same message.
Around the end, I knew the next conference I wanted to serve instead of just attending and that’s when he announced next year they are doing a Crazy Faith Tour.
After the announcement was made, we said our goodbyes and it was time to go home.
What I love about the conference was that God moved throughout. They reinforced that All You Have is All You Need by using what they had and the speakers from in house. There was a big move to kill the spirit of comparison and submit everything you do to God. I can’t wait for next year!
